한국에서 동성애자 활동간의 죽음에 대한 연대 메세지
필리핀의 진보적인 동성애자(게이들) 단체인 ProGay에서는 아시아의 많은 사회에서 동성애자들에 대한 억압에 의한 고통을 보여주기 위해 자신의 목숨을 스스로 끊은 한국 동성애자 활동가 육우당의 친구와 가족에서 깊은 위로의 말을 전합니다.
우리 필리핀의 게이와 레즈비언들은 동성애자인권연대와 육우당과 같이 이상을 가진 젊은이들에게 그가 다른 활동가들과 같이 일하고 한 명의 동성애자로 생각한 안전한 환경을 제공하기 위한 동성애자인권연대의 모든 노력을 지지합니다. 우리들의 초라한 사무실과 바, 그리고 거리만이 오로지 우리가 정부와 다른 사회로부터의 거친 차별로부터 우리가 취할 수 있는 쉼터입니다.
우리는 동성애자인권연대가 성적 소수자들을 위하여 계속해서 더 열심히 일해주시기를 요청합니다. 왜냐하면 동성애자인권연대만이 육우당과 같은 사람들이 내쫓겼을때 찾아들 수 있는 공간이기 때문입니다.
우리는 육우당의 죽음이 헛되지 않기를 기도합니다. 그의 죽음과 삶, 그리고 동성애자인권연대에서의 활동들과 기억들은 모두 다함께 여기 필리핀에 있는 우리들에게도 채직질이 될 것입니다.
전세계의 성적 소수자들의 동등한 권리와 평화와 해방을 위한 연대 만세.

The Progressive Organization of Gays in the Philippines
(ProGay) sends its profound condolences to the family and
friends of Okoodang, Korean gay activist who took his
own life to demonstrate the pains of discrimination against
LGBTI people in many societies here in Asia.
We Filipino gays and lesbians support the Gay Lesbian
Bi-sexual and Trans-sexual Human Rights Federation (LGBTHRF)
and its efforts to provide a home to young idealists such
as Okoodang, a safe environment where he can think as a
gay man and work with other activists. Our humble offices,
bars and streets are the only places where we can take
shelter from the harsh discrimination coming from
government and other social institutions. We call on
the LGBTHRF to continue existing and working for the good
of sexual minorities because that is where people like
Okoodang should walk into when they are sent away.
We pray that Okoodang did not die in vain. His death and
life and memories and the work of LGBTHRF, together,
will be inspiration for our work here in the Philippines
also. Long live solidarity among sexual minorities of
the world for equal rights, peace and liberation!
