동성애자인권연대의 친구들,
저희 국제동성애자인권위원회는 믿을수없을 정도로 충격적인 육우당의 죽음에 대하여 그의 동료와 가족, 그리고 친구들에게 가장 깊은 위로의 말을 전하고자 합니다. 특히 저는 국제동성애자인권위원회에서 프로그램 기획자로 일하고 있는 한국계 미국인으로써 특별히 더욱 그의 죽음에 대해서 가슴아파 합니다.
그의 삶은 투쟁과 희망 그리고 용기의 힘있는 모델을 우리에게 보여줍니다. 의심할 여지도 없이, 한국의 이반 운동과 동성애자인권연대에 있는 모든 친구들의 삶은 이 잘 훈련되고 결의에 찬 활동가 - 전쟁에 반대할때 다른 사회단체와 이반 운동과 연결되어 차별에 대해 목소리를 높이고, 소외받은 사람들에 대한 연대하고 지지하였던 한 젊은 동성애자 -의 수고에 의해서 더욱 더 풍부해졌을 것입니다.
그의 예기치못한 죽음은 성적 소수자 청소년들이 얼마나 위기에 노출되어 있는지와 한국 사회에서 성적 소수자들이 저하고 있는 차별과 딱지의 고통이 얼마나 고통스러운 것인지를 잘 확연히 드러내고 있습니다.
우리는 성차와 성적 지향에 기초한 폭력과 차별과 일체의 사회적 딱지와 불관용에 대한 싸움에 동참함으로써 우리는 그의 죽음을 영예롭게 기억할 수 있게 될 것입니다. 우리는 그가 했던 것처럼 우리 공동체 구성원들에 대한 아끼없는 지지를 통하여 그를 영예롭게 기억할 수 있을 것입니다. 우리는 부정의에 대하여 공공연한 반대를 확실히 함을써, 우리의 용기를 모음으로써 그으 죽음을 영예롭게 기억할 수 있을 것입니다.

Dear friends at LGBTHRF,
The International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission wishes to
extend its deepest condolences, sympathy, and solidarity to the
colleagues, friends, and family of Okoodang upon the shocking and
painful and shocking news of his passing. As a Korean-American and
the current Program Director at the International Gay and Lesbian
Human Rights Commission, I am particularly saddened by his loss.
His life provides a powerful model of courage, hope, and struggle.
No doubt, the lives of people at LGBTHRF and within the Iban movement
in Korea were immeasurably enriched by the contributions of this
dedicated and talented activist--a young gay man who provided social
support to marginalized people in the community, used his voice to
speak out against discrimination, and connected the Iban community
and other social movements when he took a stand against the war.
His untimely death underscores the painful extent of the stigma and
discrimination that sexual minorities face in Korean society--and the
vulnerability of sexual minority youth.
May we all honor his memory by dedicating ourselves to the fight
against intolerance, stigma, discrimination, and abuse on the basis
of sexual orientation or gender identity. May we honor his memory by
reaching out to support our community members, just as he did. May
we honor his memory by gathering our courage and taking a public
stand against injustice.
